It’s a light week in the NHL as teams start to prepare for the NHL All-star break. For All-Star Weekend, it’s time for the best of the best to compete on the ice. The first time was in 2003, making this the second year that the event will take place in South Florida. Before the competition becomes fierce and the race for the Stanley Cup heats up, league stars will get two days to show off their talents in exhibition games.
There is only one game on Monday the 30th. The St. Louis Blues take on the Winnipeg Jets (-235).
This is a difficult game to bet on for player props. Neither team has a player that I feel is a lock to get over three shots in this contest.
The St. Louis Blues face the Winnipeg Jets with both teams looking to improve in the Central Division. The Blues are currently 23-24-3 and are in last place in the Central Division as a result of our recent losing streak. The Jets once led the Central Division with a 31-19-1 record, but they have lost three straight games and are now in second place. The upcoming game should live up to expectations, as both clubs are looking to make strides in the division and Western Conference.
Despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.02 goals per game, the Blues are having a rough season. Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas have led the top line with 35 goals and 55 assists, but the rest of the offense has also contributed. Brayden Schenn, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Ivan Barbashev have combined for 32 goals and 58 assists, while defenseman Justin Faulk has added six goals and 20 assists from the point to help open up the offense.
Players I like:
Hellebuyck Over 25.5 Saves
St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets
On Monday, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will look to make it three wins in three starts against St. Louis. He earned his first shutout of the season against the Blues and now has a 2-0-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against average and an impressive.964 save percentage in the series. Hellebuyck has a four-game winning streak against St. Louis dating back to last season. Hellebuyck has three shutouts this season and is 14-7-0 at the Canada Life Centre, so everything points to a frustrating and long night for the Blues.
Binnington Over 28.5 Saves
St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets
Jordan Binnington will start the St. Louis Blues’ game against Winnipeg on Monday, looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Binnington has had a difficult season overall, with an 18-17-3 record, a 3.28 goals-against average, and a.891 save percentage. Things are unlikely to improve against a Jets team that has beaten the Blues in five straight meetings. This season, the team has won two games by a combined score of 9-2.
Good Luck
